Welcome to Spring at The Stillpoint

Spring has sprung – well sort of – the heater and the fan are both vying for a place in the office at the moment – which means that you will still be wrapped in warm towels on a cool day, and gently cooled on a warm one. The garden however is loving it and it lifts my heart to see all the flowers in bloom. Even the garden Buddha is enjoying the flowers.

Reiki News

Level 1 Workshops – December 9th & 10th and December 15th & 16th

Become attuned to the Reiki energy and learn techniques for self-healing and for use with family and friends. The workshop runs from about 9.30am to about 4 pm both days, and lunch is provided.
Investment of $150 includes a workbook and CD of Reiki meditations for home practice.

If these dates don’t suit, but you would like to learn Reiki, let me know and we can arrange an alternate time. I am offering individual Reiki training in Maleny and Brisbane as well as group classes.

Reiki Shares

Reiki Shares are an opportunity to give and receive Reiki in a small group setting. They are open to anyone who has been attuned to a Usui system of Reiki, and generally go for about 1.5 – 2 hrs. Energy exchange is a gold coin donation in Maleny & $5 in Brisbane (to cover petrol).

Our final Maleny share will be on Wednesday November 21st at 10am. Please call me if you would like to join us to share some beautiful Reiki treatments.

Our Brisbane shares have finished for the year, but will resume in January – dates still to be finalised.

Appointments

Appointments are available Monday to Saturday, from 9.30 am till 4.30 pm and there is currently no waiting time – sometimes you can even get same-day appointments – though booking ahead is advisable if you have a particular time in mind (such as 4pm on Fridays!). Phone me on 0400 722 786 to book an appointment today!

Price Change in 2013

It’s been nearly 5 years since I have increased my fees for massage and reiki, so as of January 1st 2013, the following fees will apply.

• 30 minutes $45
• 60 minutes $75
• 90 minutes $115

Gift Vouchers

Gift Vouchers are once again available online (my apologies if you hit the website when they had disappeared).
They make wonderful Christmas gifts – or any time you need a boost gifts – and can be purchased and downloaded directly from the website or picked up at the office – call me if you would like to arrange collection.

Expired Gift Voucher Extension
Anyone who received a gift voucher last Christmas, or earlier this year, and whose expiry date has now passed – don’t worry!
I am happy to honour them up until December 31st.
Bring the voucher with you if you still have it – or if not, just call me – I do keep a record just in case.

New Tools

I have acquired some interesting new tools to help address stubborn tight spots and trigger points – you know the ones that just keep coming back, or never really go away?

Baguanfa Cups

These silicon cups are similar to the glass ones commonly used in acupuncture. They can provide a good strong suction, but can also be adjusted easily. I have found they are very helpful in relieving pain and tightness in overworkeded muscles (eg. shoulders and hips) and the mini cups are helpful on sore tendons (eg.elbows).

Pointer Excel Trigger Point Stimulator

This little gadget is like a baby TENS unit – except its designed to target trigger points in muscles – those nasty spots that not only hurt when you touch them, but radiate pain to other areas. I have found it’s very helpful in de-sensitizing these points, and improving relaxation of the muscle fibres.

New Techniques

Emmett Technique

Emmett Technique is a new modality that I am studying and have already found very effective in improving range of movement, flexibility, posture and pain relief.
Emmett uses sequences of muscle activation points to unlock muscle memory and allow the body to re-align itself. It is very gentle, can be performed through clothing and is suitable for all ages – from babies with feeding issues to older people with range of movement or balance issues.
I can combine Emmett techniques with your massage, or use it in a treatment session to address specific issues such as difficulty turning your head, raising your arms, lower back and hip pain.
